Look at us learning

Year 4 had a wonderful World Book Day. The children enjoyed a morning parade, proudly showing off their costumes. They spent the day reading and planning their own stories, thinking about characters, settings and using a story mountain. In the afternoon, they brought their ideas to life through their writing. It was a fantastic day full of creativity and celebrating stories.

Summer 2 - Non-Chronological Reports

This half term, we have been learning how to write non-chronological reports about sea creatures. We explored some fascinating animals and the key features of this text type, including headings, subheadings, factual language and organised paragraphs. Then, we researched our chosen sea creatures using a range of sources and used our knowledge to create informative reports, sharing interesting facts with our readers.

Geography

In Geography this term, we will be studying the city of Chester. We will explore counties, countries and cities, using maps, atlases and aerial photographs to locate places and investigate their features. We will also learn about Chester’s human and physical geography, discovering what makes it such a popular tourist destination.

This topic will link closely to our History learning about the Romans, as Chester was originally founded by the Romans nearly 2,000 years ago.

Science

Our current learning in Science is all about states of matter. We explored the properties of solids, liquids and gases, using particle models to help us understand how materials behave. Through practical investigations, we  will observe how materials can change state through melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation.

We will also develop our skills by making predictions, carrying out investigations and using scientific vocabulary to explain our findings.
