A United Kingdom 

For our themed week, ‘A United Kingdom’, Year 4 explored the structure of Parliament and learned more about our local county of Lancashire.

Alongside this, we were incredibly lucky to welcome two very special visitors, Clinton and Mr T, who shared their experiences and told us about their lives as part of the Windrush Generation. Their stories helped us understand the importance of resilience, positivity and supporting one another.

Our favourite part was hearing the Banana Boat Song and singing along with Mr T!

We are incredibly grateful to Clinton and Mr T for sharing their stories with us and helping us understand how the experiences, cultures and contributions of different communities have helped shape Britain today.

To begin the school year, we have been developing our co-operative learning skills, following in the footsteps of Bumble and his friends. We explored the different roles we can take on when working in groups and have been practising using them to listen to one another, share ideas and work together.
