Autumn 1 - Katie Morag

In our first half term, we have been looking at stories all about Katie Morag. We have learnt about her various adventures and even wrote a retell of one of her stories. We have also explored persuasive writing and completed a piece of writing about why people should visit the Isle of Struay.

Maths

Autumn 1 - Place Value, Addition and Subtraction

This half term, we have been looking at place value in numbers up to 100. We have also looked at adding and subtracting 2-digit numbers. We have been learning how to rename 10 ones as 1 ten and how this impacts our working out. We have been using Base Ten and number lines to support us. We have also looked at counting up in our 2s, 5s and 10s.  To develop our mastery of number, we have been using Rekenreks to support us 'careful counting' and subitising.

Science

Autumn 1 - Animal Survival and Keeping Pets

In our first half term we have been looking at what animals need to survive. We have also looked at how pet owners can take good care of their pets and they would need to do to keep them healthy. We have also looked at animal's offspring and the similarities and differences between parents and their young.
